Formula

Batch weightM = cement + sand + gravel + water
YieldV = M ÷ density
Per m³mi = weight ÷ V
Sand ratioβs = sand ÷ (sand + gravel) × 100%
3600 + 7000 + 11500 + 1800 = 23900 kg at 2400 kg/m³ yields 9.96 m³, giving 361 kg cement, 703 kg sand, 1155 kg gravel and 181 kg water per m³ at a 37.8% sand ratio.

FAQ

What is shortfall and how is it detected?
Shortfall means the delivered volume is less than what is invoiced. This calculator is the test: yield should equal batch weight divided by density. A batch that yields 9 m³ but is billed as 10 is 10% short. Cross-check with drum volume, weighbridge conversion and density measurement.
Why measure density instead of assuming it?
The same mix with limestone versus granite aggregate can differ by over 100 kg/m³, and lightweight concrete sits near 1800. Assuming 2400 overstates yield by 25% for lightweight aggregate and understates it for heavy aggregate. One bucket measurement beats any textbook figure.
What if the water-cement ratio comes out high?
Check aggregate moisture first. Sand at 5% moisture holds 350 kg of water in a 7000 kg batch; if that is not deducted from the added water, the true ratio runs more than 0.10 above the ticket and the strength drops a grade. This is the commonest cause of low strength on site, far more common than bad cement.
